Kevin Guo



Kevin Guo is a student at St. Ignatius College Preparatory, where he is the Editor-in-Chief of the Apogee Report Club and First Violin in the Orchestra. He has completed over a year's worth of credits at Irvine Valley College, focusing on STEM subjects including Social Psychology, Life Sciences, Statistical Behaviors, Biomedical Engineering, and more. As a Research Intern at the University of California, San Francisco, Kevin conducted extensive research on developing a highly sensitive method for quantifying sulfadoxine and pyrimethamine in microvolume plasma samples. Utilizing ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS), he cleaned plasma samples using protein precipitation with acetonitrile and created calibration curves using linear regression. His work was incredibly important to the publication of a research paper, showcasing his contributions to advancing medical research. In the Boy Scouts, Kevin is a Life Scout and Senior Patrol Leader, leading projects such as school remodeling, cemetery cleanups, and food bank collections. He also mentors socioeconomically disadvantaged students. Kevin aspires to become an orthopedic surgeon, driven by his strong interest in medical research and community service.
