On June 24, IKEA, the Swedish multinational conglomerate, plans a bold move of paying real people to work inside the virtual store of their Roblox game. This initiative is aimed at enhancing IKEA’s presence in the virtual world.

Job Details

The number of paid positions is currently 10. It has been stated that they will work with unpaid players to help run the store. The age requirement is 18, and you must live in the UK or Ireland to apply. Interestingly, the hourly wage is $16.82, which is over twice the US federal minimum wage.

Game Development

IKEA has enlisted the development group known as The Gang, which is famous for creating popular Roblox games such as Vans World, which has over 100 million visits. The Gang has over 39 games, with more than 1 billion visits total for all their games.

Virtual and Physical Integration

It has not been revealed yet whether players will be able to buy real life items in game, like Walmart’s Roblox experience, which launched on April 29, 2024. Walmart allows you to buy an item on Roblox, and receive the real life package and the virtual counterpart at the same time.
